Job Description:

US Signal is a leading data center services provider, offering secure, reliable network, cloud hosting, colocation, data protection, and disaster recovery services — all powered by its expansive, robust fiber network. US Signal also helps customers optimize their IT resources through the provision of managed services and professional services.

We are seeking a Human Resources Representative to join our team in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This role is on-site and is not performed remotely.

The Human Resources Representative provides a broad spectrum of support relating, but not limited, to payroll processing, budgeting, record keeping, employee relations, and various department projects. This position takes direction from the Director of Human Resources as well as the Executive Vice President of Finance.


  • Bi-weekly payroll processing.
  • Support Finance Department with weekly expense report processing.
  • Calculate final monthly sales commission payout for sales staff and analyze commissions paid month-to-month and year-over-year.
  • Maintain human resources records by recording new hires, transfers, terminations, changes in job classifications, merit increases and tracking paid time off.
  • Assist with review and implementation of policies.
  • Accurately respond to requests for verification of employment.
  • Process any unemployment claims as needed.
  • Utilize a variety of computer programs to create and maintain spreadsheets and documents.
  • Other projects as assigned by US Signal Management.

Experience and Skills:


  • Ability and desire to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
  • Must be well-organized and have strong attention to detail.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, including FLSA, FMLA and OSHA.
  • Ability to write and proof-read documents.
  • Ability to manage a multi-faceted project to completion.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well independently in addition to working well within a team.
  • Ability to discreetly handle confidential information.
  • Must be able to build relationships with people and maintain professional demeanor in the office.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint).
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel, including VLOOKUPS and Pivot Tables desirable.


Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or Finance.


2-5 years in a professional Human Resources environment, preferably in payroll and benefits.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

This position operates in a variety of environments. The majority of the time is spent in a professional office environment and this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computer, phones, copier/scanner, and filing cabinets.

Required License(s)/Certification(s):

Valid, active driver’s license with a good driving record as defined by the Company’s current insurance provider.
